Looks like some "tagger" with a can of pink spray paint has attacked the second and third coaches of this Zephyr in Rock Island, Illinois. Actually, this is a campaign train, operated on behalf of former Bell & Howell CEO and senatorial candidate Charles Percy. George photographed the train just before the 1966 election, which Percy won over then-incumbent Paul Douglas. Other items of interest: Zephyrs did not call at Rock Island, and that track on the left is a gantlet track, used in conjunction with the freight house scale.

Photograph from Trackside around Illinois 1960-1973 with George Strombeck, by Greg Stout..
