The eastbound CASCADIAN, train #6, is east of Merritt in this May 29, 1953 view. The 251's shiny orange and green contrast sharply with the dark gray clouds covering the mountains. The 251 A&B are FT's built in 1941 as the 5701 A&B. They were renumbered three times in their career and wore their current numbers from 1943 to 1948 and from 1950 to 1957, when they were rebuilt into GP9's. Note the red and white catenary poles, painted to warn low flying airplanes of the presence of catenary. (Sandy Goodrick)
