In September 1959 the engineer of manifest leaving Parsons Yard for Russell snags orders on the fly at CH Cabin at south throat of Mosel (southbound) yard. The "tower" here, smallest on C&O, is portable. CH Cabin lasted at this location until 1962, when C&O combined its function as train order site with one closer to the line down the Hocking, called HX Cabin. Quite possibly this small building had not been here before 1952. That is because this or an identical portable office had been at Powell Wye, 14 miles north of HV Jct., until diesels in 1952 eliminated the steam helper that assisted coal trains up the hill to Powell Wye, where the helper turned.
