From the mid-Fifties until the end of independent existence, the Frisco operated its main lines as fast freight properties, while the various branches and lighter-traffic lines were judiciously employed to feed the mains. Motive power purchases are outlined in roster form in this new 128-page all-color book, and operating practices over the diesel years are noted in photo captions and comments throughout.

The varied freight rosters of the St.Louis - San Francisco Railway (Frisco) and the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (Katy) are reviewed in full color in more than 300 photographs.  There's even a handful of passenger cars used jointly by these fallen flags.

The railroad that ran “Through the Heart of the South” was known as an innovator and effective competitor against its two larger neighbors. The attractive equipment of the Seaboard was no small part in this battle. Enjoy this varied roster in the more than 300 color photos of this road which disappeared in 1967.
